Jackie Guerra
Jackie Guerra

Mechanical Engineering, Class of '27

Jackie Guerra served as a Teal Co-President and currently continues to impact Baylor ECS students as the President of SWE, the Society of Women Engineers. Here is what she said about her time at Teal:

"Coming to college without any friends from home, I knew I’d have to put myself out there. Looking back, choosing to live at Teal was one of the best decisions I made at Baylor. From seeing familiar faces from Line Camp to getting advice from upperclassmen, Teal made the transition to college so much easier. Most importantly, it’s where I found my second family.

Living at Teal didn’t just help me build friendships; it also opened the door to amazing leadership opportunities, even as an underclassman. I worked at the Teal front desk, gave tours to prospective students, and eventually served as co-president of the Teal College Council. Whether you're outgoing or more on the quiet side, I truly believe Teal has something to offer everyone. It played a huge role in shaping my college experience, and I know it can have a positive impact on yours, too."

Ben Mallory

Mechanical Engineering, Class of '26

Ben Mallory served on Teal Council and graduated in 2026 with his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Here is what he had to say about his time spent at Teal before he participated in a Study Abroad opportunity:

“Living at Teal was a defining part of my college experience. I spent about a year and a half there while completing my mechanical engineering degree with a minor in business administration, and it gave me both a strong academic support system and my core group of friends. Being surrounded by other engineering students who understood the workload made a real difference day to day. Teal was also flexible when I needed it, allowing me to break my lease to study abroad during sophomore year.

Some of my favorite memories came from simple moments like celebrating birthdays in the common room, late-night movies, and all the small, spontaneous experiences that made it feel like home. I also grew professionally through serving on Teal Council and contributing to TRC formal. Teal helped me grow in every area, and I’m very grateful I was part of it."

John Ajit
John Ajit

Data Science, Class of '26

John served as Co-President of Teal Council and an ECS Ambassador. When asked about his time at Teal, he said:

"As an out-of-state student, I was very nervous about going to college so far from home. After moving into Teal, all those nerves faded away, and I can now say that I have met lifelong friends in this community. At Teal, I was blessed to meet so many people who understood the academic experience while we lived and grew together! The thing I loved most at Teal was that there was always something going on: CL events, Teal Council events, someone playing Super Smash Bros in the lounge, Spike Ball outside in the quad, and more! I was never bored at Teal and always had something to do! The people you meet here and the friendships that you make will truly make an impact on you."

Allyriane Matthews
Allyriane Matthews

Mechanical Engineering, Class of '27

Allyriane was an active member of the Teal Community and a leader on Teal Council. She currently works as an ECS Ambassador. She had this to say about her time at Teal:

"When I came to college, I never realized how much a single residence hall could shape my experience. Living in Teal introduced me to some of my best friends, classmates, and unforgettable experiences that I would not have found anywhere else. From year-round events to late-night study sessions in the lounges, every memory I have made in Teal is one that I will cherish forever.

Being surrounded by students who were both academically driven and eager to enjoy college life made even the most challenging weeks feel like an adventure. What impresses me most about Teal is its strong sense of community. Through events, movie nights, Christmas parties, and countless other traditions, the Teal community goes above and beyond to help residents feel welcomed, supported, and connected as they begin their college journey. I am incredibly grateful for the friendships, memories, and sense of belonging that Teal has given me."

Isaac Baughman
Isaac Baughman

Mechanical Engineering, Class of '27

Isaac has been highly involved at Teal Residential College and Engineers with a Mission. As a former Teal Co-President, here is what he had to say about his time in our community:

"Teal Residential College became more than simply a place I got to live for two years. My time in this residence hall gave me the perfect foundation for the best college experience. The strong emphasis on building community is not simply a marketing tactic. Every day, both the Community Leaders that oversee each floor and the Teal Council that plans events strive to make each individual resident feel that they belong. On top of most people being in similar majors, there are many events throughout each semester that foster community and give residents the opportunity to be engaged outside of purely academics. Ranging from sports related events (Tri-College!),  trivia nights, community dinners, and countless more, Teal offers the ideal place for incoming students to get the most out of their college experience! Regardless of your background, Teal Residential College is the perfect place to live, and I cannot recommend it highly enough!"
